You are doing it for yourself. You've stated, along with many others before you, that you need to get out of Terre Haute. The Haute is okay but there are so many other, better places. With Atlanta you get nicer weather, more/different family, better job opportunities (the monetary opportunity cost in this case is huge), greater cultural diversity, etc. I wouldn't let you move to where you would be close to me if it meant giving up more than you were going to get. This doesn't put your life on hold, this moves it forward.
