1 Down

So I had my first test this morning. It ... well, I hate to say this ... it wasn't bad. I hate to say that it wasn't bad because when I have to say it wasn't bad it can mean one of two things: 1) I don't know jack shit, missed all kinds of stuff, and am so stupid I don't even know it, or 2) I really, actually did just fine.

I'm guessing 2 because I know of some things where I know it will depend on how "tight" they grade. I am usually fine if I have this kind of critical evaluation of specifics to answers. It will still come down to grading. If they are grading using the, "yeah, he gets it and has most of it here" technique, then I am fine. If, however, they are using the, "he didn't use the exact phrasing from the class notes" technique, well, then I might was well quit now.

Perfect Timing

I had forgotten what it was like to take multiple classes. And to take classes with in-class tests. I just love how they always manage to line up so that you have a couple of tests within a couple of days.

I'm in a Statistical Analysis course. This is the one I'm really worried about. The test has two parts: a conceptual part and a math part. The math part is open book, open notes, calculator, everything. The conceptual part is just your knowledge, your pencil, and the test. Mathematically we really haven't covered that much. But, when you look at it conceptually, we've covered a ton. And the conceptual part is just odd to me. I do see the reason though. Not only do they want us to know a bunch of equations, but they want us to know why we are doing what we do, and also to be able to explain it to just about anyone.

I'm not freaking out .... well, not exactly .... but this is stressful.

I Need a New Table

My girlfriends is kicking some serious butt right now. She is developing a table for a literature review that I am doing for school while I study for my first round of exams. Go girlfriend!

The table is for an internal website for school stuff; it will have links and all kinds of good information.

I Love Statistics

As it would turn out the Student's t distribution and F distributions were developed by beer brewers.

Vet

$250 just to tell a broke college student that his dog is just fine. I love having all this spare money to throw around a things like that. The gods owe me a beer for this one.

No More Faith

So I was listening to Faith No More on my big stereo the other day and my girlfriend thought it sounded like New Kids On The Block. What the fuck? Okay, so maybe she was only 10 when the CD came out but ... well ... damn ... New Kids? ... that's just sad . I lost respect for something that day. I'll leave it to the reader to decide if it was the girlfriend or Faith No More.
